Custom Projects
We are centered in Bend, Oregon. We currently do not have a customer-friendly showroom or shop though we hope to have that in the future. We have a very small shop in northeast Bend and also do a lot of on-site work. We mainly serve Bend, Powell Butte, Sisters, and occasionally Sunriver. However we are happy to travel farther if required.
That's because we do a lot of different things! While we focus on carpentry like finish carpentry,(/finish-carpentry-bend-oregon) doors,(/finish-carpentry-bend-oregon) railings, (/stairs-railings-central-oregon)decks,(/central-oregon-decks) siding,(/central-oregon-decks) etc, we also can do full-scale renovations. Our wide variety of experience in construction means we understand the nuances of a wide variety of specific tasks.
That being said, our real strength lies in complicated projects that we have noticed are difficult to find contractors for. For example if you want to rebuild your staircase, it can be hard to get the attention of a construction company for that size of project, but it is also beyond the skill or scope of a handyman.
Custom, built-to-order carpentry projects will vary wildly in cost as every detail will affect budget. What we can say is this:
• It is important to us that we set good expectations around cost before starting a project. We work on fixed costs whenever possible and communicate when there are things we may not be able to ascertain ahead of time. The older the home is, the more unpredictable it can be. This is where diligence in project planning is important.
• Custom work will always be more expensive than a product. Every project is unique and custom unique projects will never be less expensive than production line products. The main driver for a custom project should be to meet specific needs, challenges, or desires, not budget.
The best thing is just to talk with us and get an idea of cost as early as possible.

No - An interior designer is a very valuable asset, particularly if you are also in need of help with color selection and guidance on how a project fits in a larger space. But it's not always necessary and depends on the project. Don't hesitate to contact us first and we can help guide you on the entire process.
Of course if you have already recruited a designer we are happy to work with their guidance! We love meeting and working with other professionals.
No - we will handle all materials orders. Many materials needs for a project are more involved than you may realize. Things like corner boards, edge pieces, specialty hardware, etc all need to be accounted for in a materials order. Some people think they will save money and avoid "contractor markup" but the extra time we will spend on a project by having to get more parts or things you didn't realize needed to be accounted for will add up very quickly.
Schedule is often affected much more by outside circumstance than by our calendar. Lead times on materials and products, and any administrative things like building permits will be more impactful on the project schedule. We can usually get started on pre-construction planning right away and then project schedule is just a negotiation of all the factors, including your schedule.
If building permits are required for your project then we will handle everything with the city or county. The exception would be if your property has older permits that weren't ever closed or other issues with the administrative history. We are happy to help with these things too but they are less predictable.
No - we will handle all of that. We have a network of very high level subcontractors and we will always use the best person for a job.
We take our relationships with clients seriously and don't expect them to advertise for us. If a customer leaves a review because they choose too we are eternally grateful but we don't ask our clients for reviews.
